I’ll admit, I haven’t always been a Showtime follower. However, once I watched my first Showtime series I couldn’t stop. The storylines are fabulous, the production value is phenomenal, and the acting is award-worthy. Stop sleeping on Showtime, and start binging today.
Perhaps one of Showtime’s biggest shows, Billions, follows the world of New York finance, New York politics, and the space where the two converge. Bobby Axelrod, played by Damien Lewis, is a gifted, determined hedge fund hero with only one thing on his mind, money. Meanwhile, U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades, played by Paul Giamatti, is a sharp lawyer with ambitious goals and justice on his mind. They are two whirling tornados headed on a crash course leaving nothing but destruction in their wake.
What would you do to protect your family? That question is at the center of this two-season drama series. A well-respected judge, Michael Desiato, played by Bryan Cranston, is faced with the impossible decision to either uphold the law or save his son, who killed the son of the notorious organized crime leader, Jimmy Baxter, played by Michael Stuhlbarg. Rules are broken and lives are destroyed as these two men fight for their families.
Some of the most iconic country music was created by just two people; Tammy Wynette and George Jones. This limited series dives into the heartbreaking romance between the musical power couple who are responsible for over 30 number-one country songs between them. The series starts when George, played by Michael Shannon, and Tammy, played by Jessica Chastain first meet and follows them through the beautifully devastating next thirty years.
There is a reason Homeland is a forty-time Emmy Nominee and an eight-time Emmy Award winner. This eight-season psychological thriller follows CIA officer Carrie Mathison, played by Claire Danes, as she struggles to balance between her high-intensity job and her bipolar disorder. Never-ending conflicts and surprise twists and turns keep Carrie fighting for her reputation and her life over the ninety-six episodes.
Matt LeBlanc stars in this five-season comedy as himself, a satirical version of himself. LeBlanc is hired to star in a remake of a BAFTA Award-winning British sitcom against the desires of the show’s creators Sean, played by Stephen Mangan, and Beverly, Tamsin Grieg. The former Friends star is not the right fit for the role and problems emerge all over this Hollywood set.
A company that literally changed the way people live deserves a deep dive. That is exactly what Super Pumped does for the ride-sharing company Uber and its founder Travis Kalanick. The series, based on the book of the same name, by Mike Issac, follows Kalanick, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as he navigates the highs and lows of Silicon Valley and the ever-competitive startup world.
